How to apply for  Iowa State University Scholarships (residents in the US only)

The application process is quite easy for international students because they do not have to mail the credentials (certificates, transcripts, results, etc) from their home countries to the school. The university allows students to upload all the required materials via the school’s online website. The application for any of the Iowa state university scholarships is also done online.

To begin the application process you will have to create an application account using your official name as it appears on your credentials and your passports. If the name on your I-20 form appears different from the one on your passport, the U.S Embassy will refuse your visa.

Then you will have to make a credit card payment of a $50 application fee which is non-refundable and cannot be waived.

Requirements

Next, both freshmen and transfer students are required to upload copies of their academic records from their high school or all colleges and universities attended as the case may be. All academic records to be uploaded must be in English, if the records are not in English then a certified English translation must be included.

Also, students must provide a financial statement which will be completed by their parents, guardians, or sponsors. This financial statement is to certify that they are able and willing to fund your tuition and other fees for the duration of your studies.

Your sponsors must upload a bank statement alongside the financial statement form that proves they can afford the first year’s funds as Financial Statement. This must be done whether or not the student is applying for any of the Iowa state university scholarships.

International students who are applying for students’ visas are required by the U.S Embassy to provide residential addresses not P.O. Box addresses. Students are also required to list any post-secondary institutions they have attended or are currently attending in the application, if you fail to meet this requirement it shall be considered as a fraud and will result in denial of admission or dismissal from the university.

How to get the Iowa State University International Merit Scholarship 2021 (International students)

To gain this scholarship, eligible students must complete the application forms on the Iowa State University OneApp. International students however must complete two applications which are the General OneApp application and the International Student Admissions Scholarship application.

Applicants should make sure that the name they use to apply for the scholarship is exactly as it is in their application for admission to ensure that your application is matched to your admission. Students will also use this name format while uploading their other academic documents.

It is also important to note that the scholarship selection is quite competitive as a result of the review of SAT, ACT scores, and high school grades.

Who is Eligible to apply for Iowa State University International Merit Scholarship

Students who are eligible for this award are incoming international freshmen or transfer applicants who have been offered admission into the university. Only students assessed non-resident tuition are eligible for this award.  For the transfer applicants, they must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0.

Requirements for Iowa State University International Merit Scholarship Renewal

However for the scholarship to be renewed certain requirements must be made and they include; maintaining a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 and continuous enrollment in a minimum of 12-semester credits in each semester.

Application Deadlines

For the fall term; the priority application deadline is February 15 for freshmen students and March 1 for transfer students while the final application deadline is June 30. For the Spring term; the priority application deadline is October 1 and the final application deadline is November 1.
