  1. Master’s degree:

Rotary peace fellowship master’s degree is usually available every year for about 50 candidates to study at premier universities in fields related to peace and conflict prevention. The master’s program only lasts for 15 to 24 months. For better understanding of the course of study, candidates are to apply for practical internships of two to three months during the academic break.

2. Professional Development Certificate:

Another academic opportunity rotary peace fellowship offer over 50 candidates every year is the Professional Development Certificate. This program lasts for three months and includes two to three weeks of field study.

Rotary Peace Fellowship for Development Certificate is only for experienced professionals who want to further their skills and broaden their knowledge in peace building, conflict prevention, and resolution. Currently, this program is only available at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, we hope it would be introduced to other universities soon.

Eligibility for Rotary International Peace Scholarship.

As stated earlier, to be eligible for a professional development certificate and master’s degree, you need to have fundamental knowledge and work experience in courses like international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution.

Moreover, each participant must demonstrate their commitment to their communities in terms of peace building and conflict resolution.

Some other criteria for eligibility go thus:

  • You must have a minimum of five years of work experience in courses related to peace and conflict to be eligible for the professional development certificate program. You should also be able to explain how you can add value to rotary world peace fellowship by promoting peace and working in alignment with Rotary’s mission.
  • If you are planning on studying at Makerere University, you must either be an African or must have worked in any Africa country. You also need to have previous work experience with communities or initiatives outside the continent.
  • You must be proficient in English because communication is one of the major keys you need to achieve your goals as one of the rotary fellowship members.
  • You must have a bachelor’s degree to qualify for the master’s degree or professional development certificate sponsored by rotary peace fellowship.
  • You must be able to demonstrate good leadership skills about how you have used them in the past to enhance peace and bring goodwill to your community.
  • You must have a good record in your community.
  • You must be able to prove through your achievements a strong commitment to national and international peace.
  • You must have a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace
  • As a master’s degree applicant, you must have a minimum of three years of experience of related full-time work or volunteer experience and bachelor’s degree
  • Professional development applicants for rotary peace fellowship must have a minimum of five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience in the fields of peace and conflict resolution. Such individual should also have a strong academic background in the areas he/she proves to have worked in.
  • You must be endorsed by your local Rotary District Fellowship before you can apply for rotary peace fellowship academic training.

SIDENOTE: Kindly note that rotary peace fellowships may not be used for doctoral study.

  • You are an active and honorary member of rotary world peace fellowship.
  • You are an employee of a Rotary club or district, Rotary International, or other Rotary entity.
  • Your children or grandchildren (by blood or legal adoption), spouses of lineal descendants, or ancestors (parents or grandparents by blood) of any living person in these categories are benefactors of rotary peace fellowship financial aid support.
  • You are a former rotary member or your relatives (lineal descendants) resigned from rotary peace fellowship within 36 months.

Important Note: You have to wait for three years after completing your Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships or professional development certificate fellowships before you can apply for the master’s degree program.

Members of Rotary Peace Fellowship who have completed the master’s degree program but are yet to obtain the professional development certificates must wait for five years before applying to the certificate program.

This is because you will have to rank two centres that suit your interest and are best for your course of study. How to Apply for Rotary Peace Fellowship Scholarships and the Application Process

  • You must submit your application before the deadline.
