The American Airlines Credit Union accepts applications for American Airlines Scholarship 2021. The American Airlines Scholarship is open to graduating high school senior or current college students with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
The vision of American Airlines Credit Union for every member-owner of American Airlines Federal Credit Union to realize their life and financial welfare is enriched due to their Credit Union participation.
American Airlines Federal Credit Union is committed to helping all members reach their financial goals. The company recognizes that for many of its young member-owners, higher education is crucial. Therefore, the company offers a $4,000 scholarship for eleven members to invest in their future.
Although most of the 2021 applications can be completed via the online portal, official transcripts must be sent in separately. A judging committee will review completed applications.
The committee will review and select participants in line with their essays, academic achievement, letters of recommendation, leadership skills, and extracurricular activities, including school and community involvement, volunteer work, and work experience.

Scholarship Benefit for American Airlines Scholarship
There are 11 scholarship slots available. Out of the 11, six high school winners and five college winners will receive a $4,000 award each.
- Applicants should be registered full-time in college, university, or trade school in the 2020 fall.
- Applicants should not be considered a prior winner of almost any American Airlines Scholarship.
- Also, applicants must have his/her account and be a member of good standing with the American Airlines Credit Union.
- Applicants must either be graduating high school senior or current college students with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
How to Apply for American Airlines Scholarship 2021
Applicants, who already have their accounts and are members of the Credit Union, can submit an online application form. For new applicants, simply create an account. If you already have a scholarship account, Log in to continue.
It is expected that you have a Credit Union membership in good standing in your name.
It is expected that you have a good knowledge of the English language.
Supporting Documents Required
- Upload two letters of recommendation.
- Two essays not more than 300 words each.
- A resume and a photo.
- Parental Release Form, if applicable, for those under the age of 18.

What are the chances of getting a scholarship?

If I applied in the past, do I have to make a new application?
All applicants from the previous year are welcome to apply again in line with the American Airlines Scholarship requirements. Nevertheless, as there have been some changes to the application, it is necessary that you resubmit your information.
Previous applicants using the same email address are allowed to use their previous password or select the “Forgot Password” prompt to reset. The American Airlines Scholarship Committee will not be able to refer to any information submitted in a previous year when reviewing applications
Is there any age limit?
There is no age limit. What is required is that the applicant meets all relevant eligibility requirements.
Are graduate school students eligible?
Graduate school students are eligible as long as they will be enrolled full-time in the fall of 2021.
How will I know that my application has been received?
As a registered member, you will have access to an online dashboard that will show the application status and which items are missing.
Your responsibility is to notify the Credit Union by emailing [email protected] before the deadline if your dashboard shows inaccurate information. Kindly note that it may take a few days for your transcript to show that it has arrived.
What is regarded as a complete application?
A complete application includes all materials submitted by 11:59pm CST on May 17, 2021, except otherwise noted by the organizer. Applications missing any materials will not be reviewed for the American Airlines Scholarship. A complete application includes the following:
- All fields filled out and submitted via the electronic portal
- Two letters of recommendation
- A résumé not more than two pages
- Two essays not more than 300 words each
- A transcript (postmarked or electronically uploaded by May 17, 2021)
- An individual photo
- Parental Release Form, if applicable, for those under the age of 18
- A Credit Union membership in good standing in your name (to be verified by the Credit Union upon receipt of your transcript
Why should I submit a photo?
Photos submitted are necessary and used only for publicity for the winners. The judging committee does not see any submitted photos.
Do I have to submit an application electronically?
All applications are expected submitted electronically except the transcript (which may be mailed in) and, if applicable, the parental release (mailed in or sent electronically)
When will winners be notified?
Winners of the American Airlines Scholarship 2021 will be notified by phone in August 2021. All other applicants will a notification via the email address included on their application in September 2021.
How is the scholarship money awarded?
Scholarship winners will be presented with a physical check, or the scholarship will be deposited directly into each person’s American Airlines Credit Union share account. Before receiving the scholarship funds, members should submit an acceptance letter or class schedule for the fall 2021 semester.
In the event that a winner is unreachable and cannot be contacted within five business days during the notification call, the American Airlines Scholarship will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be chosen.
What is the release authorization for?
If you select “Unrestricted“, you permit the Credit Union to publish and use excerpts of your application materials. This means that quotes or excerpts from your essays or video could be deployed in publications, advertising, or social media by the Credit Union.
Selecting “Limited” suggests that you prefer to be contacted before your application materials are used. By selecting “Restricted,” your American Airlines Scholarship application will not be used subsequently. It is important to note that your choice does not affect the scholarship selection.
What happens to my essays?
Kindly note that only members of the judging committee will have access to your essays. Nevertheless, if you select “Unrestricted” in the release authorization, the Credit Union can post or share either excerpts or the whole of your essay on different platforms.
